Challenge: Your team was hired to design and build a spooky, family-friendly experience for a local Halloween event. Your design must include at least one special feature that enhances the experience through the use of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Your team will also demonstrate how it works.
Materials:
Below is a list of suggested materials. Consider using recycled or reusable materials whenever possible.
General Materials – Cardboard, construction paper, cotton balls, chenille sticks (pipe cleaners), popsicle sticks, string, glue, tape, scissors
STEM Materials – LEDs, batteries, sensors, pulleys, gears, etc.
Time: 1 hour
Scoring:
- Up to 20 points for the creativity of your spooky experience
- 10 points if your spooky experience includes at least one working special STEM feature
- Up to 20 points for the creativity of your special STEM feature
- Up to 20 points for how well your team works together
